Spring 2025

Blackmore church bell tower

Spring 2025 practice update

As we approach the midpoint of the year, we would like to provide an update on the progress of selected projects and our ongoing support for clients across various locations and project types.

St Laurence Blackmore church

Inkpen Downie Architects has navigated the tight ecological and physical constraints of the site to oversee the tender process for the restoration of the historic bell tower at Blackmore church. Originally constructed circa 1400, the bell tower features extensive timber cladding, including shingles, weatherboarding, and board and batten, all of which require replacement due to severe weathering. In addition to renewing the cladding, the existing bell tower roofs will be retiled, enhancing the bell tower's entire appearance and structural integrity. This comprehensive restoration project aims to preserve the historical significance of the bell tower while ensuring its longevity for future generations.

The Digital Forum (the old bus depot)

As the project nears 18 months on site, the transformation of the old bus depot into The Digital Forum is becoming increasingly apparent. Internal construction is progressing smoothly, with the installation of partitions providing stakeholders with an initial insight into the building's final appearance. The project is on track to achieve practical completion by midsummer.
