Rural Contemporary House

Modern Barn

Planning permission has been granted to demolish a 1960’s modern agricultural barn in a rural historic farmstead setting of a Grade II Listed farmhouse and to build a new sustainable contemporary 4-bedroom dwelling.

“great weight should be given to outstanding or innovative designs"

The previous plan form was functional but not very inspiring. Our client wanted to free up the layout and make the spaces more open plan while improving visual and physical links to the landscape beyond. Planning constraints wouldn’t allow us to go up so the key to unlocking the design was to dig down.
