Energy efficient living in established garden setting
Our client obtained a detached house that was significantly set back from the highway. It was situated within a large plot of land in Braintree that had potential for development.
To maximise the viability of the site the plot was split in to two, the existing house converted in to luxury apartments and a new large 5 bedroom family dwelling with triple garage and games room above on the front plot.
The development left space for a comfortable, modern house, designed for high standards of thermal insulation, efficient lighting and heating installations including, solar water heating, resulting in running costs comparable with a small house.
Sensitive design persuaded planners that another house could be accommodated in the existing streetscape without over development.
