"Inkpen Downie provided loss adjustors with careful assessments of repair strategies, costs and timescale"
'Phoenix-like from the flames'
Damage was extensive when fire broke out in this fine 16th century manor house. There had been major damage to original roof timbers and the twentieth century stair and landings. Smoke staining and blackening was severe throughout the building.
Refurbishment involved restoration of badly damaged ancient timber floors, the reinstatement of wattle and daub wall panels and lime plaster walls and ceilings. At the same time it was necessa ry to design a strategy for threading a new and complex heating and electrical installation through the historic fabric.
New bathrooms and kitchen were installed in a completely contemporary style providing a counterpoint to the texture of the historic materials.
Inkpen Downie provided loss adjustors with careful assessments of repair strategies, costs and timescale involved for the prompt settlement of the client's claim. As an AABC accredited architect Ben Downie is experienced in ensuring that repairs are sympathetic in techniques and materials.
