Building Regulations

The building regulations apply to most building work, and information about them can be found on the government website, building regulations page.

The responsibility for checking the Building Regulations have been met falls to Building Control Bodies - either from the Local Authority or the private sector as an Approved Inspector.

At Inkpen Downie we aim to incorporate the requirements of the building regulations from an early stage so that the integrity of the design remains unaltered by their requirements.

We prepare a set of technical drawings, specification notes and calculations, while also incorporating the work of other consultants, where they are employed and are submitted to the building control body for approval.

In the case of a simple project this information may be used by the builder in order to go ahead with construction.

Detail design, tender and construction information

The success of a design often depends on control over how it is executed in detail. We can achieve this by developing the design in detail, with large scale drawings and detailed written specifications that set out the exact components to be used and how they are to be put together.

These can then be used to get accurate costings from builders and later form the basis of a building contract.
