Complete transformation sympathetic to the historic building. 

An existing bar owned by our client in Colchester Town Centre was tired and run down. The existing tenants had decided to cease trading as Greenlands Vodka Bar and moved out at short notice leaving our client with an out of date bar and a neglected Listed Building that required urgent attention to stop it falling in to further disrepair.

Our client had the decision whether to simply sell it or keep it and completely remodel, refurbish and rebrand the business. He felt that the heritage building deserved to be brought back to life and began the process himself.

Inkpen Downie worked closely along side the client to obtain the relevant permissions to ensure the building complied with all current regulations suitable for modern day use whilst helping to guide him through the refurbishment, floor by floor, room by room.

The viability of the project relied on turning the business around as quickly as possible to get it back open for business and customers back through the door. Inkpen Downie therefore had to react quickly to any issues that arose on site, which was executed with speed and professionalism.

The end result was a complete transformation from a tired and run down building into a modern and current business that incorporated sympathetic references to the historic building throughout.
