Resurrecting a ruin in the greenbelt

This barn fell victim to the 1987 storm and by 2001 was thoroughly over grown. Its green-belt location meant that there was a presumption that permission would not be obtained for it to be re-built.

Careful survey of the remains of the timber frame combined with research at local and county archives enabled Inkpen Downie to present a case for the barn to be rebuilt and eventually councillors were persuaded to agree.

Now the barn is coming together as a comfortable self built home.
