Architecture in Suffolk

Suffolk, a county in East Anglia, is home to a wealth of architecture. At Inkpen Downie, we are a chartered architect that offer our services across Suffolk.

We have worked on a number of projects within Suffolk. Clare Priory, situated in the shadows of Clare Castle on the banks of the River Stour in Suffolk is one of the oldest religious houses in England. We designed a new extension which can be entered through the original building via an arcade formed in an existing length of a late 19th century wall.

Little Court is a grade II listed home at the heart of the Suffolk conservation area of East Bergholt. The work we carried out achieved an upgrade of the existing accommodation to meet the requirements of the modern user.

Alongside this there was a programme of repairs, using historic building techniques. These included timber frame repairs, replacement of modern felt finishes with traditional lead roofing, repairs to windows and reordering of panelling.

In the case of listed buildings it is necessary to submit applications for listed building consent - something we are able to help as part of our planning services.
