New Earth Sheltered Play and Resource Centre
The PARC vision is "to give children with disabilities the chances and opportunities other children have to have fun in a safe environment designed to meet their needs". This purpose built Play And Resource Centre at Notley Garden Village has recently received planning permission.
The centre will be an organic form, maximising natural light and conserving energy, and constructed in natural materials. Earth mounding and a thick North wall protect the building from cold winds and nearby roads and help reduce heat loss. Deciduous trees to the south allow maximum solar heat gain in winter and shade in the summer.
The centre will become a community resource to be used by local schools and children's groups.
