Lexden Grange

Inkpen Downie teamed up with Cambridge Developer Enterprise Heritage Limited to negotiate for the purchase of these Council Offices, from which local planners vacated in 2005. Our planning application was successful and the project was completed in 2007.

The Grade II listed buildings have been converted into luxurious apartments with two new complementary buildings adding an additional 12 dwellings. The conversion sensitively retains the building's original features including a spectacular oak paneled staircase and high ceilings.

“Our design for the conversion of Lexden Grange back into residential use proposes a respectful use of the listed building,” Architect Ben Downie said. “we work in partnership with developers and conservation bodies to find a viable future for listed buildings, so that the buildings and their contribution to the environment will be conserved for future generations.”

The homes are featured on the Enterprise Heritage website.
