Vision 21, St Peter's Church Harold Wood
St Peters Church Harold Wood is expanding and has a 15 year plan to make the church “mission shaped”. Inkpen Downie will be assisting them in making their buildings meet the needs of the growing congregation.
The concept design shown here creates a new 'hub' which unifies the various existing facilities with new ones, opening up the church and making it more accessible.
The hub acts as a focus for visitors, main entrance and gathering place. A new entrance tower provides a beacon and the foyer behind doubles as overspill worshipping space, linking to a cafe and creche, reception and administration.
A double height space for the foyer and cafe enables visitors to find their way around the building, simplifying the circulation and making good use of changes of level across the site.
