Insurance Claims and Repairs
We have accumulated considerable experience in the affect of fire on buildings and agreeing appropriate repairs with the relevant authorities.
We are used to providing the necessary material for loss adjusters to assess claims and for insurers to process them.
Often this is done in conjunction with other consultants and we have contacts amongst Structural Engineers and Quantity Surveyors who can quickly be involved in order to provide the full picture.
Gauging the impact of fire damage on historic buildings and the level and scope of repairs that will be required poses special problems.
Repairs have to be agreed with the local conservation officer and, in the case of Grade II* and Grade I buildings , with English Heritage.
Whether repairs have to replicate the original fabric of the building or whether the introduction of new materials may be acceptable, can only be judged having carried out a careful appraisal of what has been lost and the value of what remains. The approach adopted can have a considerable affect on the overall cost and timescale for repairs.
We aim to establish and specify a thorough repair that will see our clients re-established in their building with as little fuss as is possible.
