High Ongar Village Hall
Inkpen Downie were appointed by High Ongar Parish Council to design a new village hall that would accommodate the wide-ranging needs of the rapidly expanding community at High Ongar. Our design beat over 70 other schemes to secure a £250,000 grant from the Waste Recycling Group (WRG) Village Hall and Community Centre Challenge 2005, which was then used to help fund the project.
The new village hall is fully accessible and user friendly, with high specification amenities including WCs and catering facilities. Solar tubes are used for pre-heating underfloor heating and hot water, creating a warm and welcoming environment and helping to reduce the hall’s running costs in the long-term. The layout of the new hall provides flexible and practical spaces that are ideal for letting and generating an income.
The village hall has been built using high quality materials for a longer life span and easy maintenance and the community of High Ongar are now enjoying their finished hall which is in constant use and fully booked for the whole year.
