'Attractive, accessible and user friendly public conveniences'

Inkpen Downie worked with North Hertfordshire District Council to provide new and renovate existing public convenience facilities in a number of different locations across the county, in order to make them more attractive, accessible and user friendly.

The existing facilities, which did not comply with the conditions of the Disability Discrimination Act, were cramped, badly lit and in generally poor condition. The new and improved facilities are spacious and contemporary, providing level access, timed locking mechanisms and enhanced lighting.

Key features

  • Public space enhancement.
  • Variety of different exterior solutions each appropriate to its location.
  • Use of proven standard interior pod

The project required a high level of consultation on our part with the public, local authorities and town councils.
